Data speaks volumes.

we ran the numbers is an independent publication that reports on the numbers behind everyday life - the financial reality underneath the businesses, systems, and decisions that most people interact with daily.

Journalistic Integrity

Every number on this site traces back to a named source - government data, SEC filings, court records, earnings calls, academic research - with each source linked within the article and listed at the bottom of every page, because readers who want to verify the math should never have to take our word for it.

We don't take sponsored content from industries we cover, and we don't draw conclusions that outrun the evidence - which means the work takes longer, but it also means you can trust (and verify) our work.

Opinion vs. Fact

We're human, which means we occasionally have opinions - and when we do, we say so explicitly rather than dressing them up as analysis. The numbers are the numbers, and where we editorialize beyond what the data supports, we'll tell you that too. The line between fact and interpretation matters to us, and we think it should matter to you.
